The Committee in charge of AFFC/FACC juries is pleased to announce the next Jury of African film critics for the 28th edition of the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (Fespaco) which will be held from February 25 to March 4, 2023 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, under the theme "African Cinemas and Culture of Peace".
Our jury will be composed this year of three (03) member critics including a Burkinabe. It will examine the films in the official fiction feature competition according to specific criteria of artistic quality and cinematic excellence.
The African Critics Prize - Paulin Soumanou Vieyra is a prize initiated by the African Federation of Film Critics (AFFC/FACC) and awarded by a jury of critics with the aim of encouraging cinema of good artistic quality. It will also serve to help emerging young talent.
Launched by the AFFC/FACC and awarded for the first time in 2013, the African Critics Prize - Paulin Soumanou Vieyra, has already been awarded to several dozen African films at film festivals across the continent: Ouagadougou Pan-African Film and Television Festival (FESPACO, Burkina Faso), Carthage Film Days (JCC, Tunisia), Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF, Egypt), Zagora International Trans-Saharan Film Festival (FIFT, Morocco), Durban International Film Festival (South Africa), Short Film Meetings (RFC, Madagascar), Toukountchi Niger Film Festival (Niger), Ismailia International Documentary and Short Film Festival (Egypt), etc.
All applications must include a duly completed application form, a Curriculum Vitae (CV), proof of publications (press clippings, broadcasts, links to articles, etc.) to be sent to the two (02) addresses faccbureau@gmail.com / juryfacc@gmail.com no later than January 31, 2023. The working languages are French and English.
