Pluie D'espoir is a movie based on the story of a young peasant named
Toussaint from the Haitian Provinces. He has come to Port-au-Prince not
only to survive, but also to strive with dignity and achieve a place for
himself, his family and the coworkers he left behind. On the road to
his destiny, he encounters many obstacles. He learns about city life,
modern inventions and technology. He develops relationships that bring
joy and pain to his life.

"It was always my dream to make a movie that would bring back some of the great characters of people I knew in the past… the peasants I grew up with in the provinces during summer vacation spent in Miragoane and Chalon. The Peasants living there were always welcoming, honest and warm. Each morning spent in Chalon was memorable and every drop of coffee served by the neighbors was done with love and sincerity. I needed to do a film that showed the way of life for a peasant family. When I was writing the script, I wanted to explore what destiny could hold for a man like Toussaint if he were to seek a better life away from the Provinces, leaving his wife and child behind. I also wanted it to be a positive story. Doing "Pluie D'Espoir" is a way for me to give back, albeit through a sentimental tribute, to some of the peasants I knew so well. To honor their strength, their pride, their strong moral values, their loyalty and their caring attitude. A man must seek until he finds what he is after. Depicting Toussaint's many accomplishments is a way to send a message to every kid in the Provinces or in the capital; to kids who wonder about their future…the future is what you make it, not what it makes of you." - Jacques Roc
