'Leaving and Staying' is a six-part film series curated by Enoka Ayemba that will focus less on the stories of leaving, but rather on the decision to stay despite the hard life circumstances and fight for a better live on-site.

Mory and Anta are dreaming of going to Paris. Mory is a shepherd, but his herds were sent to the slaughterhouse. Anta is a young student, who lives like him on the edge of society. The two young people decide to do everything in order to save money for their journey.

The film Touki Bouki is one of the most radical films of all times - not only because of its attitude towards the former colonists. An encouragement for the youth of the African continent in the 1970s.

"Gehen und Bleiben" ist eine sechsteilige Filmreihe, kuratiert von Enoka Ayemba. Die Filme beschäftigen sich weniger mit den Geschichten des Gehens, als mit der Entscheidung, trotz schwieriger Lebensumstände zu bleiben und vor Ort um ein besseres Leben zu kämpfen.

Im Anschluss an den Film Publikumsgespräch mit dem Filmkritiker und Wissenschaftler Thierno Ibrahima Dia aus dem Senegal.

Mory und Anta träumen davon, nach Paris zu gehen. Mory ist Viehhirte, doch seine Herden wurden zum Schlachthof geführt. Anta ist eine junge Studentin, die ebenfalls am Rande der Gesellschaft lebt. Die beiden entschließen sich, alles zu unternehmen, um das nötige Geld für ihre Reise zusammenzubringen.

Der Film Touki Bouki ist nicht nur wegen seiner Haltung gegenüber den ehemaligen Kolonisatoren einer der radikalsten Filmen aller Zeiten. Eine Ermutigung für die Jugend der 1970er Jahre auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent.
