bande annonce Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story - US Trailer
There are many layers in the social revolt shaking the foundations of Egyptian society today. A movement started through social media by young people is now a full fledged revolution supported by a very large segment of Egyptian civil society.
This hunger for more democracy, for a better life is explored in the drama "Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story" by
award winning Egyptian filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah.
"Scheherazade" - also titled "Women of Cairo" - has for primary focus the gender war between Egyptian men and women and those women who fight back. The film, based on true events, tells the story of an "Oprah-like" TV show host whose ambitious husband pressures her to steer her TV show away from political issues to focus more on women issues so as not to rub government officials the wrong way.
Through the story of three different women who testify live on her show, the audience is exposed to the high level of corruption, abuse and sexual, religious, social and political repression that started the popular revolt we are witnessing today in Egypt.
ArtMattan films is proud to bring "Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story" to US audiences.
